so, i know you've wanted to scream at your computer, maybe pitch it against a wall once or twice. if so, you can relate to me
we returned home saturday evening from orlando, the land of disney world, universal studios, and sea world. we missed out on disney attractions but hit the others. it was fun, but dadgum, it was STINKIN' HOT! i knew what to expect, but that heat was miserable! a blessing, though, was the home my DILs rented had a small pool and the boys and their cousins loved that!
prior to the orlando trip, i went by myself to my hometown to visit my mom ~ so i'd been away from home 2 SOLID WEEKS. i don't remember the last time i was away so long.
well, for some reason, my laptop isn't happy to be home. it won't let me online. so even though DH has gone so far as to reinstall the router, apparently it wants to be either in
i am using my sons' laptop. but guess what? it fried a few weeks ago. my DH got it working, but only online. he thinks the programs are still "there", wherever that is, but that's all we can do on it. as i try to catch up on my classes at www.jessicasprague.com, i have to download everything to my EHD (external hard-drive), then move it over to the other laptop to work on CS3. again, i say so, on to the info i want to share about creating your first digi layout:
first, at www.jessicasprague.com , she has revamped Lesson 1 in the Up and Running class. she's created a new Lesson 1, taking the old Lesson 1 and making it a self-paced class, PERFECT for beginners. Make sense? CREATE YOUR FIRST DIGI LAYOUT. now, i admit i'm partial to jessica since i've gone through her class. as i said before in other posts, i've learned a lot from playing with photoshop and searching for free toots. but i am thankful that i decided to pay for the class with JS, because it really focused on techniques and was EFFICIENT.
- on jessica's blog, she shares "photoshop friday". here's a link. she has lots of amazing techniques listed there.
- 7 pages of FREE TUTORIALS at jessica's site. you.must.read.these.
that being said, i also found some VERY WELL DONE video toots on theshabbyshoppe.com. Kristie is one of my all-time fave designers and is so generous to constantly give away kits (shabbyprincess.com) and desktops (her blog) , tips and share her knowledge. her kits were some of the very first ones i snagged on the web. :) so, here is a link to a video toot on her site CREATING YOUR FIRST LAYOUT USING PHOTOSHOP by Laurie Garza. and here is a link to the list of tutorials on her site.
mmm mmm mmm ~ and i love me some shabby miss jenn! i know that's not grammatically correct, but sometimes you need to say what you mean :) i didn't see anything specific to beginners on her site, but she has a nice list of tutorials. (pssst-that's where i got my blog header & buttons!)
and a few other links you may want to check out:
- designer digitals ~ getting started in digital scrapbooking
- scrap girls ~ university home
- scrapbook-bytes ~ program tutorials ~ photoshop
i think that i'll pull these links together into my sidebar after i catch up on my class. the new class registers in 1 week, starts in 2, so i gotta get moving :)
make it a Lovely Day!
Marcia
